NEWS: Waltman likely gone from TNA after no-showing Unbreakable PPV

Sean Waltman is likely gone from TNA after his no-show for TNA's PPV Unbreakable this past Sunday.

Numerous news sites are reporting that Waltman was working on a show-by-show basis until he and TNA came to a final agreement. A contract was delivered to him two weeks ago by TNA, but he was reportedly unhappy with some of the terms, and was looking to renegotiate on several items.

Some sites are reporting that he did show up to TNA's Impact Zone, but not in time for his match, while others say he did not show up at all; no confirmation either way has been acknowledged by TNA, nor have they acknowledged that he is being dropped from the TNA lineup as yet.

It is also known that Waltman and WWE had been in recent contact and some people are speculatiing that he no-showed Unbreakable to show WWE he was still serious about returning there. WWE has been interested in his returning for some time, and his recent TNA matches with Raven and Jerry Lynn apparently proved to WWE that Waltman was still capable of turning on his best performances when he is motivated. Two of the terms of his potential return to WWE - keeping free and clear of all possible substance problems, and making sure his former relationship with Joanie Laurer stays a former relationship - have been fulfilled, so with his buddy Triple H in McMahon's ear, it's probably only a matter of time before he returns to WWE.

Most likely, if that is the path Waltman chooses, I would expect to see him when Raw debuts on USA on October 3.

The real loser in this situation is Alex Shelley. Positive reviews from both fans and behind-the-scenes people had made many think that the Waltman/Shelley tag team, who were booked to win the Chris Candido Memorial that aired on Impact's internet show over the past month, would possibly have won the tag belts on Sunday evening to help shake up TNA's quickly stagnating Tag division. Shelley went out and did the best he could, and came out looking great; even being the first person eliminated, he showed he could go it alone and make it work, the last minute help from Candido's brother notwithstanding. No doubt this made TNA sit up and take notice, but unfortunately, they may not have anywhere to go for Shelley at this time without Waltman's involvement.
